Biography

Gina has spent her professional career in ever progressive leadership roles across diverse fields, each reflecting her strong commitment to servant leadership and her enduring passion for learning. Throughout her professional journey, she has consistently sought opportunities to grow, adapt, and lead with purpose – a mindset that continues to guide her work today.

Gina’s dedication to lifelong learning is reflected in her academic path. She earned an associate’s degree from Moberly Area Community College, her bachelor’s degree from Hannibal-LaGrange College, an MBA from William Woods University, and a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Baker University. This foundation ultimately led her to higher education nearly two decades ago, where she has been able to integrate her academic training with her professional experience. Her diverse background allows her to evaluate academic programs from multiple perspectives, strengthening strategic initiatives, instructional leadership, and academic quality while improving efficiency.

Gina began her higher education career at Ottawa University, where she held several administrative roles, including Director of Adjunct & Curriculum Administration and Assistant Dean of Academic Administration. She later joined MacMurray College as Associate Provost after being recruited by a former colleague. During her time at MacMurray, Gina also served as Interim Director of Online Education and as the Interim Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs & Student Life. Her tenure encompassed both meaningful successes and significant challenges – from helping lift a probationary sanction with the Higher Learning Commission and leading the rapid transition to fully online instruction during the COVID-19 pandemic, to guiding academic continuity through the closure of the institution after 174 years. Throughout this period, Gina remained focused on supporting students, faculty, and staff during an unprecedented time of disruption.

Gina later joined the University of Kansas as Director of University Assessment supporting institutional accreditation and compliance efforts. She currently serves as Assistant Vice Provost, Program Life Cycle, where she provides leadership for the Academic Program Coordinating Committee (APCC), the program life cycle team, and the Center for Online & Distance Learning (CODL). In this role, she focuses on policy development and process improvement, and coordination efforts that enhance transparency, efficiency, and accountability in academic program administration.

Outside of work, Gina enjoys spending time with her husband of more than 30 years, Aaron, and their two dogs, Sonnig and Snickers – her self-proclaimed “best officemates.” She is an avid fan of Royals baseball, anxiously follows the Chiefs, and continues to nurture her love of learning through international travel and culinary classes. Gina and Aaron are proud parents to one son, have one daughter-in-law, and one grand puppy.
